This is a change-your-life book. It makes one feel accountable for all things consumed and ensures the next time you buy food at the local grocery store, you choose responsibly.
It's not a page turner, and the characters had little appeal, but the author raised some interesting food for thought. While most of my book club read the novel more literally, I chose to interpret the unwanted guest as illusion, and enjoyed the book from that perspective.
