I love a collection of essays that speak to me on a super personal level, or at least a level that makes me call my mom to share bits of the text because they are too hilarious to keep to myself. "I Was Told There'd Be Cake" is straight up hilarious and spot on regarding family, high school friendships, poop, and plastic pony collections. I loved that Sloane Crosley can start out the collection of essays about her imagined "freak accident death" and her fear of what may be found in her apartment following the funeral and end it with a delightful capstone of what it means to get old in your late 20s. I would venture to say that this is as funny (if not more so) than Chelsea Handler's collections. READ IT!
It was kind of hard to like the hero. If it was me, and my father was killed by the man that wanted me in his bed etc.... I'd run for the hills!
Love this series. Can't wait for Chloe and Sawyer's story.
This book is fabulously, amazingly, and completely hilarious.
