_The Sword Thief_ was fun, but not as good as the first two books in the series. The Cahill siblings travel to Japan in this one, and while you do get some historical information, there is not as much attention to detail as with the first two books. While the author includes a fair amount of information about the historical character, I would have liked to see more cultural and geographical detail. Also, some characters and plot lines that continued from the first to the second book seemed to have all but disappeared in this third book. The siblings interact mainly with the Kabras and Alistair Oh, but very little if at all with the other characters in the treasure hunt. Since there's a different author for each book in the series, I'm hoping the authors of the upcoming books will carry the ball with a little more enthusiasm. The author of Book 1 is the creator of the series, and he definitely launched it well, giving it momentum along with fascination and intrigue. The Book 2 author picked up the story and ran with it, and ended things with enough of a cliffhanger that my 10-year-old son spent his own money to buy Book 3 the first time he saw it at the store. Book 3 sort of coasted. So bring it, Book 4! Looking forward to it.
