I started this a while ago but gave up. Very dense and I did not find it accessible or enjoyable. I feel like it is a book I should read as I admire what the author is trying to do. Will try again one day
I remember reading this and being floored at how good and funny and sad and honest this book was. I was 15 and it was written for my demographic but it wasn't fantastical or schmaltzy or talking down to me. I think I would feel the same if I went back and read it, too. It gives the story away piece by piece, the symbolism and metaphor are clear but not violently obvious. The author treats you like an adult but still knows you aren't one yet and she balances that well.
