This is one of the Wallace Boys books by Duncan Watt, who grew up in British Africa and now resides in Singapore. This excellent boys adventure series has been pretty successful around the world, but not so much in the USA. In this story the brothers are sailing around in Southeast Asia and have some amazing adventures with Moro pirates in the Sulu Sea. The plot of this book is nicely similar to the Rick Brant book THE PIRATES OF SHAN. It's like another version of that terrific story, with some unusual twists. If you like the Rick Brant and Biff Brewster series from back in the 1950s and 1960s, you'll like the up-to-date stories in this series which center on Africa, the Mideast, and Southeast Asia. A really terrific series!

So much more than the sum of its parts, possibly the greatest read aloud kid book ever! One that as an adult I find my self thumbing through over and over again. Do not consider yourself an educated or wellread person till you have read this book, and if you have read it again.

Great articles especially for the early history. I'm personally a big fan of revisionist history and this is basically what the whole book is. however, the problems of that approach show themselves in the more recent history chapters. perhaps it is too soon to study recent history in such a way? he often just comes off as the crazy kind of leftist. regardless, definitely a must read. even if you don't always agree with his views it will certainly make you think and stir up your perception of textbook style history.
