This is a pseudo-Victorian novel about pseudo-time travel. In the first two sections of the book, time travel is faked to do good(first story) and make money(second story). These are the best part of the book. Why do we want to believe so fervently in time travel? It's a fascinating exploration. Unfortunately in the third story, time travel becomes real and extremely trivial. Apparently the most common use is to steal authorship of some famous works of literature. It was a quick, easy read and I liked the first parts almost enough to forgive the last. I'll probably give book 2(in a trilogy) a try.
