I enjoy Dubus's writing and hoped to get a clearer idea of where he came from and how he got to House of Sand & Fog. This book depicts his youth, family, single mother, wandering father etc. Too much time spent on teenage boy testosterone angst with an emotionally absent father but not enough on how he grew, matured and himself became a father. Kept reading though.
