I'll admit that I didn't make it through this entire book but it was basically because I didn’t care to read anymore about the good old days in Brighton Beach where Niederhoffer learned the secrets of successful trading by becoming a master at hard ball squash and checkers. Please. I picked up this book in the library because it is hard to find any good books on trading. I had never heard of the author, but his experience was interesting and I thought it would be an enlightening read. Although he does intersperse some trading anecdotes here and there, there are not enough of them and they are not of sufficient detail to be interesting. Conversely, his other stories are too long and detailed to be interesting. I put this down halfway through and did an internet search for Niederhoffer and, shocker, he was humbled by the Asian crisis right after this book was released and ran up the NYT list. That’s probably why there aren’t more books written by traders.
