I like it much better than the first book.

** spoiler alert ** Baldacci is the author of more than 14 books. But this one had the feeling of mass-produced fiction. The underlying story is good, and the character of Shaw has a lot of potential, but the writing didn't feel as polished as Daniel Silva variety. The story starts with a defense weapons manufacturer and his attempts to create a new cold-war, thus making himself millions/billions and those he has to kill in the process are just collateral damage. However, one of those collateral deaths is the love interest of a man trained to kill people. Bad choice. The end of the book seems rushed. There were just a lot of missed opportunities in this book that were hard to swallow. The billionaire's wife is named simply "Miss Hottie" this just struck me as a little lazy. I wanted to like the book more than I did. It would be a great book to take on vacation to the beach where you want to read fast, mindless, and you don't care if sand gets on your pages. I'm glad I bought this book at the Brown Elephant for $1.00.
