The second in the Matched trilogy finds Cassia searching for Ky in the outer provinces. I am so disappointed. While I didn't love "Matched," it had promise and I was intrigued enough to wonder where Cassia would go. She Went Nowhere in this book. Nothing happens, and I mean nothing happens to move the story along in "Crossed." Oh sure, we're treated to a long journey through the caverns, identifying plot points that unfold as the book progresses, but they are without significance. The dual narratives of Cassia and Ky were so identical, it was sometimes hard to figure out who was who. I found myself turning back to the beginning of the chapter to figure out which character I was with. There was no distinguishing of Cassia and Ky to move the story along. Most of the book is spent in reflection, which has zero relevance to the actual goings on in the world. We don't learn anything new about the society, the enemy, the rising, the why and how all this came about. This was a major disappointment in what seemed like it was going to be a good, if not great, trilogy.
