I'm never going to finish reading this book. I'm sorry, I tried. DNF at 70% since the last time I picked it up was probably 6-7 months ago and I've dreaded going back to it ever since. I just found the writing impenetrably dry and the voice flatly un-engaging. Friends have promised me that the series greatly improves over time but I just can't slog through another 30% here. I wish I'd read this as a kid. Maybe I would have powered through it with a bit more vim and vigor.
