I love this sweet romance series!
I heard about this book and picked it up at my local library. When I saw that it was up for an early review giveaway on Goodreads, I signed up for it even though I was already reading it because I already knew it was one I would like to have in my personal collection. I was not selected to receive a review book but I wanted to post my review anyway. Stacy Pershall's account of her life and her journey to find a way to manage her mental illness was a “could not put down” book for me. We are brought into Pershall’s world in early childhood and the scenes she sets are so vivid and relatable even if you didn’t grow up in her era, the scenarios of being bullied by the “mean girls” are universal. Eventually being diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder as well as Bipolar, her problems begin early on with an eating disorder being the most outwardly visible sign. Suffering her fist psychotic episode overseas as an exchange student was the start of her serious decline. Her penchant for writing on her body with markers as a way to work through her self loathing, has translated naturally yet in a more positive way to tattooing. She shares short inserts at the beginning of each chapter telling about her various tattoos and her thoughts behind them. Although her struggle isn’t over, her story is in the end encouraging and hopeful.
