wonderful, clever story. It's a bit like the Hobbit in terms of the story's integrity and coherence within a much larger frame of reference. However, the tone is much more whimsical than serious which makes for a fun, light read.
I am not a reader by any means, this is the very first book I read from cover to cover without being required to do so by a teacher. Then I grabbed the next in line and did the same I have now read them all. Now I am not waiting so patiently for the next in line in the series. She writes in a way that you get lost in the story. She gives you a place to escape. That really is what reading is all about in my mind. Unless your reading to learn in which case you could learn a thing or two if you read this as well.. You get attached to the characters and their lives, their story. She mixes real history and fiction in such a way that it's believable till you look up from your chapter. You can smell, touch, see, emotionally feel, what she is describing. She is an amazing author. And she takes the time to do her research... It's well worth the read. My copies are duct taped they have been passed to so many others that have come right back for the next... I love it... Can't wait till the next is out.( Est Pub Date Sept 22nd.)
