I haven't read anything else by Malcolm Gladwell, and I think the real reason I loved this book is that it confirms my own world view. All the same, I can't resist giving it five stars. The book presents the thesis that very successful people are, like the rest of us, a product of a particular environment. In their cases it was a lucky environment indeed. Not that successful people do not work hard, but that it takes more than hard work to be an amazing success. It takes a certain background. Right with you there Malcolm Gladwell. He presents some very interesting anecdotes along the way. The less satisfying part is when you wonder about his hand-picked selection of these anecdotes, and how well they really would stand up to intense scrutiny. But I found myself loving it anyway.
