During the 1950's and 1960's there was a wave of UFO sightings which led Hollywood to produce such films as "The War of the Worlds" and "The Day the Earth Stood Still". Who can ever forget those immortal words spoken by Patricia Neal, "Klaatu Barada Nikto". This book attempts to establish that UFO's do exist by using eyewitness accounts gathered from military and aviation witnesses and official investigators. There are several very convincing encounters that will definately have any skeptic questioning their position on UFO's. There is a UFO incursion at Chicago's O'Hare Airport in 2006 that is very convincing. The book does admit that 95% of all sightings can be explained away as ordinary phenomena, such as weather balloons, military flares, and reflected lights. I do remember an attempt to explain a sighting by hundreds of people in New Jersey with the ridiculous "swamp gas" explanation. However, the book is concerned about the remaining 5% that cannot be debunked by government or leading scientists. The book does lose some of its energy by straying away from actual cases and going into the need for, especially the United States Government, to set up commissions to actively investigate UFO sightings. They do not call them UFO's (Unidentified Flying Objects)anymore, they are now known as UAP's (Unidentified Aerial Phenomena), it seems the term UFO contains too much baggage. Of course I believe if there in intelligent life out there, why in heaven's name would they want to have anything to do with us? This book, since it really focuses on an attempt to get the governments involved in investigation of sightings, is more geared toward the reader who has a real interest in UFO's or UAP's from a scientific standpoint.
