I think this novel may fall short of people's expectations, simply because so many people were enchanted with The Time Traveler's Wife, and this book isn't nearly as gripping. Having said that, there were so many things I loved about it. For one thing, it takes place in and around a Victorian cemetery, and as someone who volunteers at tours and events in a Victorian cemetery, I can tell that she researched. The tour guides in her book were right about things like Egyptian imagery in those monuments. I also give her credit for originality; so many stories are just re-tellings of other stories, and this one went out on a limb. I also love ghosts, and the fact that one of the main characters has a job full-time writing crossword puzzles. It's always fascinated me, to think about people who are able to do that for a living.
