For people who enjoy dream-like, modern-fantasy, stream of consciousness type writing, this is perfect. For me, not so much. I truly wanted to like this book, since so many people had told me how amazing it was. I found it odd and tiresome. The characters were interesting enough, but I had a hard time keeping up with them long enough to get a real idea of what was going on. Perhaps I'll try this book again one day, but for now, I'm just glad to be done with it.
This book help show the beauty of the country. Kerouac describes in great detail his adventures across the United States, which has awakened in me a yearning to follow in his steps. What I would give to have been with him and Cassady in those days.
