The author wrote one of my favorite books of all time, so I was excited to read this book. However, I was disappointed . There is little character development, and not much really happens overall. While I like his style of connecting seemingly random events into an overall story, this book was flat and not satisfying.
I love this story!!! It's amazing and I can't wait to read the rest!
Andy Cole is a small town criminal lawyer that had built a successful career defending folks and just getting along. He knew the ins and outs of folks in the county and was one of the power brokers. So he thought. Then he's hired to defend Danny Fairgreen from a first degree murder charge by the defendant's brother, head of the notorious Fairgreen clan, a family of criminals. You see, Danny is the "white sheep" of the family, the only honest Fairgreen. But someone wants the young man found guilty and pressure is suddenly being put against Andy and his staff. A sheriff's car is conspicuously parked in front of his offices, a deputy with a camera. Andy is denied entry to the victim's home. When he protests, he's thrown in jail, tasered, his car towed and virtually destroyed. Andy, the eternal go along, has to make a decision that will change things for him in the small county.
