I will admit I loved this book when it came out. Then went to a lecture about it where the speaker pointed to various inconsistencies and false truths in the novel, and I was not sure who or what to believe. I chocked up the lecture to perhaps a struggling Asian female writer trying to make sense of why her writing is not taking off and Amy Tan's has. If that is so, I want to go back in time and tell her: because there is only room for one in the great game of writer's of color. It is not your fault. Now tell me if these things are really true about my beloved Amy Tan....
