I'm obsessed with Mo Willems' picture books, and have forced my siblings and almost everyone who I work with to read these. Elephant and Piggie? Fantastic! The pigeon? I adore! But, the truth is, I'm not three years old. Where's a grown-up Mo Willems book when you need it? This book is a collection of the illustrations that he drew over a year during a trip around the world. They are hilarious, poignant, and in most cases, very, very true. The world is strange and fantastic and Mo Willems captures that with his illustrations.
This book had some really interesting sections (especially a few of the later pieces), but I have to admit that I skimmed quite a few parts. A lot of his early essays are very wordy and academic, and when the topic was a movie I haven't even seen, I just couldn't be bothered (sorry, "On the Waterfront").
