I give props to Jane Austen for doing what she did in the time that she did it. However, this was not the amazing book I was led to believe. I guess no one ever told me why it was amazing, so maybe I shouldn't have expected it to be the writing. The story was good once I got 160 pages in and only because the characters started showing emotion and interacting with each other in a three-dimensional way. There was a whole lot of telling, some dialogue that was alluded to, some dialogue that was actually written out (and when it was, I loved it--good job, Jane), and no sense of what anything looked like or how things were physically playing out. But once I got around page 160 I enjoyed it a lot more. And it gave me a lot of insight into the story that I had only known from movies.
