2 stars. Finally finished with the Twilight "saga". Compared to the previous books in the series, this one was a real page-turner (but not really), even if it was rather predictable. Ms. Meyers doesn't really like to do anything really nasty to her characters, doesn't she? What I liked in this book was that a large section that was told from Jacob's POV - that was a refreshing diversion. In my opinion Jacob was the least obnoxious character out of the entire cast of characters, so that was definitely a nice surprise from Ms. Meyers. I wonder what the upcoming movie will be like.
Compelling! It left me wishing there were 10 more chapters.
I love this book, set in a frigid South Dakota winter. The plot is impeccable, the pace keeps you reading, and the end... well, that's for you to discover.
Easy to read. It's everthing your mother told you with a man's perspective.
Although I've read most of the comments about this book, I disagree with many, thinking the writing was very well done. Having a close relative that works in a high position in a restaurant, I hear stories like Steve tells in the book on an almost daily basis. And, like Steve, she doesn't just talk about the bad behavior of some customers but also about bad behavior of some of the staff. Waitstaff don't need to read this book as much as customers do. They might learn how to be reasonable, for example, by not showing up at a popular restaurant, say on a Friday or Saturday night, and then wondering why they have to wait for a table.
