I never had any intention of reading this series, since I'm not a bodice-ripping kind of reader, but I downloaded the Kindle version over the holidays when it was offered for free and actually enjoyed the book. The first half was fairly engrossing, with the time travel aspect, but after about 3/4 it felt like the author was just throwing in more trauma to try to write her characters out of. I will probably give the second book a try.
