Was curious about what attracts junior high girls like my daughter to this series; decided to check it out. Read this book in 1 1/2 days. It's a real page turner! Great action, but real heavy on the swooning over Edward's devastating good looks to point of nausea. Edward and Bella need an intervention from Dr. Phil. That said, I started the 2nd book in the series immediately after finishing this one. :)
Typical Pocket Classics Shakespeare. Elegant art that is not really suited to the mood of the story and that does not tell the story very well. The dialog is rewritten for your readers, but "feels" wrong in a more experienced ear.
I plan to read this at my next storytime. I'm not sure that thesamller kds will get the humour but the parents will. I'm really excited to read it to division 1.
I can usually get through all of Jodi Picoult's books quickly and find them very enjoyable. This one was the exception. I had always chosen other titles and authors, but finally picked this one up. I should have trusted my gut. The timeline and different voices in this book made me crazy. I didn't know when all the events were happening, and in the first chapters, there were characters talked about I had no idea who they were?! Honestly took half the book to even figure out what I was reading about. The characters were boring, and the ending was pretty predictable.
