This was a mostly charming detective story, where Lord John Grey is trying to simultaneously solve two mysteries. I found the main character compelling, and the surrounding characters interesting, but it felt sort of like a cheat to have every third character be gay. I understood that the gay leading man would have love interests, etc, and those made sense, but it seemed like every time someone's motivation was in question, it was because they were secretly gay. After a while it was less interesting, and more lazy writing. Worth reading if you already own it, or it's sitting around, but I wouldn't pay for it.
