Formulaic and pretty predictable, but lots of fun. Child's books are great guilty pleasures because they're well-written enough to allay some of the guilt factor.
Great book up until the end... no idea why the author felt compelled to wrap everything up in a nice little bow -- kind of ruined the effect of writing about "the human condition."
