I tried, really tried, to like this book. I couldn't get through it on my first try, gave it another shot after talking with some friends and still couldn't finish. I admire what Donoghue did with her narrative perspective and I think the whole premise is provocative and brave-- but there were some aspects of the relationship between Jack and his mother (especially the breast-feeding) which just gave me the creeps.
