Bu kitabı koymak zor buldum. Bu çok ilginç bir bakış açısı ve dehşeti, onu etkileyici bir okuma haline getirdi. Aslında Kevin'in bakış açısını görmeye başladım ... Bu zor bir okuma ve her yerde kesinlikle üzücü, ama aynı zamanda iyi bir kitap ve bunu tavsiye ederim.

I loved this book as much for what wasn't written as for what was written.

What to say about the Taming of the Shrew? Well, it's very well written for Shakespeare. Tight, controlled, excellent pacing, good lines- has a sort of youthful vigor and brevity to it he lacks later on. He's not phoning it in and relying on proven strategies. Probably simply accessibility accounts for much of its popularity today. It's unfinished. This seriously mars it. The framing mechanism is excellent (and obviously UNintentionally unfinished) so this is a real loss. All of the characters except the titular Kate, and sort of Petruchio, are completely and utterly forgettable. Furthermore, even the only two memorable characters are, along with the rest of the forgotten cast, utterly unlikable. This is a serious problem. These people just don't feel real and are too easy to hate. The comic follies and failings and scramblings are pretty funny, though. Good satire. Last but not least, almsot goes without saying, of course, a huge heaping dose of sexism. Verdict: It's got energy, but it's young and mean.

Doesn't exactly give me the warm fuzzies to know this type of religous fanatic is out there in the world... but it was a fascinating book and I tend to like Krakauer.

If you ever want to remember just how pig headed some men were back in the day and you have a few days to burn . . . pick up this book. It's a good, educational book which will allow you to see where we came from as intellectuals and glad that we are not there any more.
