I'm loving this series. Good mix all around. I was reading the praise for the first book before starting this one and apparently the author has been a street cop, a detective, a computer forensics specialist, a crime scene investigator, and a morgue assistant. Makes the mystery part all the more realistic. It shows. That part of the story never seems awkward, which is more than I can say for another series I'm thinking of, where the author doesn't have that sort of background. On the paranormal side, I'm liking this world. Close enough to the urban fantasy books I already love to feel comfortable, but unique enough to feel refreshing. The main male leads, Rhyzkahl and Ryan Kristoff, both have that magic fear/attraction thing going on. A bit like Anita Blake's early relationship with Jean-Claude and Richard, not that I found myself mentally comparing the two series while I was reading. I guess that's where I like my paranormal creatures. I don't like the pure evil monsters or the castrated YA style monsters. I like the dangerous other. And I love Kara. She's the type of heroine you like to read about in first person. Awesome book. I'll probably start the next one as soon as I shut down the pc for the night.

In Crash it was a very memorable book. It was a funny, entertaining, and serious. I would recommended this book to people who are looking for a book to laugh out loud.
