One of the best adventures I've ever read.
This was an inspiring book with a very positive message! Michael Oher describes his life before he met the Tuohy family, and his account of his life growing up in the Memphis projects is eye-opening. It made me sad to think about all of the children out there who are growing up in similar situations. It also struck me how normal it all seemed to him at the time, and how amazed he was to learn that not everyone lives like him and his family. The message of this book, however, is not about feeling sorry for people (or yourself). Michael Oher wrote this book to inspire kids in his situation to move up in life, and his advice to them seems to be quite good. He also inspires those of us who are born into good lives with good families to help others and to get involved however we can. This was a very good book and I highly recommend it.
I liked this book better than Glass Castle. There seemed to be more home in this one. I enjoyed how strong she was and how she never gave up.
