It doesn't feel like a lot of love went into this book. I enjoyed the first, and at least some of it spilled over to this book - what I mean is, I already liked the characters, so it feels like he didn't make any effort to make us like them again. It's not a very good stand alone book, and I really hope the third is better (already bought it). Lets see, shaky plot at the best of times. Almost zero suspense. I so missed the feeling of the "sh*t is gonna hit the fan" that I got from the first book. Really boring bad guys, with stupid motivations for even being bad guys. The great dialogue from the first book, didn't really work here. Predictable plot, with no real surprise. You get the idea... To sum up, it all feels a bit rushed, and would not hold its own if the reader didn't read the first book in series. What should have been a nice visit from an old friend turned out to be somewhat of a disappointment.
This is a short story with big meaning to me. It is a book I just stumbled upon and keep on my shelf in dedication to Carl. So, rather than to suggest this book, I will tell you that it holds more of a "personal" five star rating.
