A librarian I was close to as a child gave me this book and it has stuck with me for years. It's a haunting love story with sci-fi overtones about a man and woman from an ancient human civilization being found found beneath an Antarctic shelf and how they deal with the trials they are subjected to by modern man when they are found. Beautifully told, crisply written, and, as I said, haunting.
