Clark's book covers a lot of Kosovo's history, although it is not primarily a historical book. It's a great depiction of Kosovo's repression unfolding, as well as the civil resistance building up slowly. Of course we know now, that Kosovo's separation from from Yugoslavia was not a consequence of the civil resistance, but of the NATO intervention (and KLA fighting), however the book gives a good analysis on what could have been done to actually achieve a "conflict transformation" through non-violent means. Bottom line, it is a well-researched account of the conflict in Kosovo, building up and turning into a full-fledged war between nations. Beware: It's not a light read.
I taught this book, too, and I was enjoying it more than my students. It really made me want to go to NYC and appreciate my relationship with my younger bro.
