I picked up this book on a whim in the Austin airport, desperately needing something to read. I was drawn in by the cover (I got the softcover edition, which is a deep purple) and the picture of the car on the front. However, after reading the first couple of pages right there in the little book store, I was hooked on what was inside the book. It is a darkly humorous, deeply satirical look at the life of one working-class young man in India and the things he does to make a successful life for himself. The narrative style is also interesting. The man's story is told through a series of confessional letters (written over 7 days) to a Chinese premier.
