For a series that was so interesting, well thought out and inventive, this book of essays was surprisingly dull and lifeless. I can't even claim to have finished all of the essays, they bored me so.
LOVE this series!!!!! I've read all what, 10 books, some of them multiples of times. The basic lowdown is the main guy records the current goings on of the Black Company, a mercenary group that roams this fantasy world (don't worry, no unicorns or fairy shit here)... there are wizards but they're not wand-carrying-horned-hat-wearing-cloak-covered-freaks-with-beards or anything. Only, the guy evolves and falls for the enemy and moves the Company in unchartered lands and dammit, I can't give it all away. You'll get to love the characters and their stories. There's war and love and betrayal and all that make for good bedtime stories.
