I was afraid I would have trouble finishing this book in 3 weeks, since it's unrenewable at the library with so many people having it on hold. I finished it in one week - and could hardly put it down. With every chapter I could not believe what new challenge he faced and that this story is true. What a remarkable person and a great life lesson for what your mind and body can endure with the right attitude. It was also a good historical lesson about WWII and that era.

When I was young I reread this book compulsively, I couldn't get enough. Even though now I believe I could recite it from memory, I still pick it up every year or so and read it again. I just love sneaky Harriet and her notebooks written in all capital letters.
This book is a wonderful book full of the misdeeds and perversions of some of history's most colorful characters. I read this book after an AP European History class whose professor would discuss some of the rumors and scandals during the times we studied. People love gossip, and that's not a new phenomenon. This book is full of the gossip about the famous people of the day from a long time ago. Very interesting read!
