This book was so good. I recommended it all the manly men in my life (I know with a name like Cold Sassy Tree they never would have read it on their own). Great Southern tale about a time gone by. I do enjoy our modern times, but there is something missing, and you find it in this book. Men were men, storytelling was an art, everybody knew everybody else. Yes, there is the question of women's rights and race relations, but that's our history, and this is historical fiction. Highly enjoyable, funny, and entertaining.
This book was crazy...no better word for it. But it was good crazy, really good crazy. The end totally devastated me. When it hits you this hard, you know it's good literature.
