This book was an utter disappointment. I am surprised they were able to make such a good movie with so little substance in the book. The character Forrest Gump has none of the charm of the movie character. Although the book is more realistic than the movie, it is the epic scale and fantasy of the movie that makes it so fun to watch. If you read this book expecting to get the same enjoyment out of it as you do the movie, then avoid it because you wont find it in this novel.
One of my favorites EVER!! This is one of those that is really long but you never want it to end. Touching and funny and fascinating. I think I have owned 5 or 6 copies because I keep getting so excited about other people reading it that I lend it out and never see it again.
