I would imagine that one of the hardest parts of being a writer of a saga is knowing when to stop. I think Ms. Meyer missed her opportunity to stop and instead created a horrible closing to a series that had a decent start. The 4th book is by far the worst in the series. I found myself wishing it would end and opted to skim the last 100 pages to end the suffering. Meyer's opted to introduce an unbelievlable plot line, a cast of characters so large that she had to provide a cheat sheet and a footnote reference to it, and when her main character had nothing good left Meyer's switches narrators for almost a 1/3 of the book. She packaged it all up nicely with a happy ending, a bow, and the ability to probably write another 4 miserable books. After an almost 2 week journey through this series, I've walked away with the following thoughts/feelings: 1) Book 1 was by far the best and I wish she would have stopped there (or maybe at book 2) 2) Meyer's created secondary characters that were far more insteresting than her protagionists. I found myself dreading any more details about Edward and Bella and hoping that she would write about Jacob or Alice. 3) She was far too obvious in her attempts to borrow from some of the greatest written love stories - something I hope she only did (as previously mentioned) as a means to introduce young readers to other books Despite my opinion of this series, when all is said and done, I have to at least be thankful that she captured an audience of young readers.
Intriguing! I really want to read his Robot series books now.
