This is a gorgeous book that has a movie based off of it. I definitely enjoyed it although it may not be for everyone. In some ways, it reminds me of A. S. Byatt's Possession because of the intensely detailed description of things, but I think it was more a reflection of the meticulous observational skills of the main character. Each and every item of clothing, the details of the surroundings and the meticulously cold way she describes all reflects her sense of snow. An amazing book that keeps its tone and feel throughout.
This was a great book. This book takes the reader back to Camp Half-Blood and some of our old friends and weel as some new. The hero of this book are Piper (daughter of Aphrodite), Leo (son of Hephaestus) and Jason, the son of Jupiter, or as better known in Greek form, Zeus. Jason no memory of his past, but somehow knows he is a demigod. His memories have been stolen by Hera. And Hera has been kidnapped. The quest is to rescue Hera and to get Jason's memories back. We also find out in this book that are two sets of demigods. Greek demigods and Roman demigods that were conceived by the Gods but in their Roman forms. I really liked how Riordan brought in the Roman mythology into this book. He also brings into play famous Greek mortals such as Medea and King Midas. I just found this to be such an enjoyable book and could not put it down.
