Although the Haggadah remains for me still largely a relic of a distant age, this book made me much more comfortable with it and with the entire proceedings of a Seder. The author, partly by citing textual authority and partly by applying his own creativity, finds a purpose and a hidden meaning to the most important activities and prayers in the Haggadah, as well as the Seder plate. This book did not explain everything I wanted to know or provide a wide range of the learned commentary available about the Haggadah, but it was satisfying intellectually and a good companion to the Haggadah, as well as a pleasure to read.

I really did not enjoy this book at all. In fact this is one of my least favorite books, ever.

This book jumps around in time, space, and consciousness, exploring the interconnected forces of money and science that brought humans to the twenty-first century. AKA Your mind is fucked.

This is one of those crazy books that you read about from time to time but rarely see or think to buy it. I finally got a copy of Powell's and it's great. It's about a house, maybe you'd call it haunted...but the house is bigger on the inside than on the outside. The story tells of a group of people that tried to explore it's depths but ended up in madness or death. The book kind of tapers off toward the end and I think it's more worth it to read and get the idea of the book than actually read it because it's going to change your life.

I have only read a few pages and it's really good. Granted I'm reading it in Spanish, but it has still hooked me. Check it out!

Such a wonderfully inventive novel, but a bit of a first novel. Thursday looking at herself in the mirror, too much exposition, unnecessary characters. Especially disappointing is the gradual weakening of Acheron Hade's character. He is introduced in such a great manner, but by the end just sits around for months in Jane Eyre, which he was entered for really no reason at all. And even there he could have gone to India and taken over the subcontinent. Instead he chills out like a chump and then is wounded by characters who shouldn't have been able to hurt him. But I still love the world-building and sheer creativity. Super fun read for anyone of even a slightly literary bent.
