Who knew there was so much to say about lettuce? Comprehensive, authoritative, exhaustive...and unintentionally humorous. Has this author got a hate-on for slugs! In fact, if the reader drank a shot each time the word "slugs" was mentioned, the reader would be seriously sloshed by the end of the book! The war on slugs, and the slightly ... odd ... chapter on lunar influences/plantings adds just the right note of eccentricity to this British gardener's master work.
