From the same author as The Neverending Story, but more philosophical. I think this is the ideal book for parents to read to their older children.
This is a huge journey packed into a very small book. With the shocking death of her husband, and illness of her daughter she makes you understand what that first year of mourning is like. You feel the great love they had for each other, but never does she ask you to feel sorry for her. I thought this would turn out to be a big sappy book, but it goes much deeper. You feel how numb she is, and at the same time her writing helped keep her sane. Great book.
