I like the two parallel worlds depicted, although I think this concept could have been better managed. The book seemed a little patchy, and would have benefited from some refinement. The time line didn't flow as well as it could, with sudden jumps in time and then slow crawling parts. That being said, I enjoyed reading it and I will pick up the later books in this series. Not classic Horwood by any means, but an interesting fantasy world and a mythology which has the potential to provide a great series.
