It’s an exploration of the duality of man. Everyone has the angel on one shoulder and the devil on the other. Dr. Jekyll struggled with the good and evil inside of him and decided that if he found a way for his dark side to come to life it would alleviate the sensations he was experiencing. He mixed a potion that allowed him to transform and was able to live as both his fully good side and his fully bad. Unfortunately he found that his bad side, Mr. Hyde, was very bad and was getting stronger. He would awake to find himself in the body of Mr. Hyde and he hadn’t taken the potion. The only way to return to Dr. Jekyll was to take the potion. He was afraid of what Mr. Hyde was capable of and locked himself in his house. When it became apparent that wouldn’t remedy his problem, Dr. Jekyll was forced to take more drastic measures.

I've never really been a fan of supernatural, but this novel is great. I love how it gives immortality a new twist and purpose.
