I checked this out from the library after I'd exhausted all the Pippi Longstocking books. I haven't seen a copy since I was really young, but I remember loving it. A kid gets a soup tureen stuck on his head (like the title suggests). So great!

I was especially fascinated by his exploration of family dynamics. Growing up as the child of Holocaust survivors cannot be easy, as anyone can imagine, but Spiegelman convincingly and unromantically depicts the familial dysfunction. He clearly understands the nature of post-traumatic stress disorder. Unspeakably sad.
