Küresel Vaftiz Marmara depremi sonrası Türkiye’de en çok tartışılan konulardan birisi Hıristiyanlaştırma faliyetleri daha doğrusu “Misyoner Örgütlerin Faliyetleri” oldu. Ancak tartışmalarda pek çok gariplik vardı. Konuya eleştirel olarak yaklaşanların çoğu, Hıristiyan ve Misyoner kaynaklarına vakıf değildi, en önemlisi aktüel gelişmeler hakında somut ve özet bilgileri yoktu. Konuyu hafife alanlar ise, misyoner örgütlerin çalışmalarını sadece “Yeni açılan ev kiliselere devam eden kilerle ilgili istatistiklerle” ölçmeye kalkıyordu. Ancak birkaç istisna dışında her iki taraf da “İsimiz Hıristiyan: Unamed Christian” “Görünmeyen Kilise, Invisible Church”, “inkültürasyon: Hıristiyan Kültürünü Aşılama” gibi kavramları bilmiyorlardı. Kimi silahlı eylemlerin “Kurtuluş Teolojisi” adıyla bir inanç haline getirilip meşrulaştırıldığını rüyalarında bile görmemişlerdi. Türkiye’de faliyet gösteren Misyoner Örgütlerin isimlerinden, yerli devşirmeler ağından, bürokratik ve politik işbirlikçilerden bile habersizlerdi. Başkan Bush’un ve Cumhuriyetçi Parti’nin fanatik dinci kimliği hakında kulaktan dolma bilgileri yoktu. Amerika’nın Irak’ı işgalin Yahudi-Protestan çevrelerdeki Mesih ve kıyamet inançlarının “Tanrı’yı Kıyamete Zorlama Projeleri’nin” bir yansıması olduğunu bilmiyorlardı. Misyoner Örgütlerin güncel faliyetlerini ele alan ve yukarıdaki konuları aydınlatan kitap çalışması yok denecek kadar azdır. Biz, güncel gelişmeleri ele alırken gazeteciliğin gereği olarak “5N+1K” sorularına cevap aradık: “Ne? Nerede? Ne zaman? Nasıl? Neden? Kim? Ve ortaya elinizdeki belgesel çalışma ortaya çıktı.

I say it every time I read one of her books, but it must be said again... I just adore Shannon Hale. I may not always love her stories, but I truly love the way she writes. She has such wit and is absolutely amazing at bringing me into her stories. I can never get over how connected I feel to her characters, and this one is no different. Truth be told, I had a hard time with the beginning of this story. I felt like it was disjointed, confusing, and just plain didn't flow well. Then I figured out that I was meant to feel that way because that's how the main character felt, and all was well! I felt so connected to Rinna throughout this story. And I just LOVE the relationship between her and her ma. Every scene written between the two of them brought tears to my eyes and made me want to head over to my own mother's house and give her a big hug. Once the climax of this story started building, I couldn't put the book down. It also had an exciting twist that I didn't see coming (one you will appreciate a lot more if you've read the previous books in this series). I did find myself becoming very frustrated with Rin and her inability to figure out her own talents and to see herself for what she was worth. She was always so focused on what she assumed was her "dark side" and it drove me nuts to continually read her insecure thoughts. But again, I had to check myself. Rin is human (a 15-16 year old human to boot!) Of COURSE she's going to focus on her faults and struggle with finding peace and balance within herself. Who doesn't? It really is refreshing to see a girl struggle with these issues and to know that, though she does figure a lot of it out, it will always be a struggle for her. It makes me feel normal. And I like the idea of teenage girls reading this book and realizing that the internal struggles they have are normal too. I really enjoyed being back in the world of Bayern, and you'd better believe I will continue to purchase and devour any other Bayern series books Hale may write in the future.
