A friend introduced me to Welch and told me he was a brilliant writer. I struggled through this novel waiting to see something new or even interesting. Ultimately Denton Welch turned out to be a whiny bitch with nothing to say. Is that harsh? God, I feel like he murdered me a little through this novel.
