Not sure what I'm supposed to be feeling, here. Couldn't put it down once it really started going. Odd story, and Pendergast is unusual. Would like to see more of him. Liked the other characters too, and want more of Nora. Not so much with Smithback. A bit long, though. Update: It took some talking over with friends to realize my problem with the plot. The story was TOO fantastical. Authors sometimes take an out-there idea and run with it. Fine, I'm used to that. This one took more than one idea, so I'm left with several extreme plot points. That takes away from the book, in my opinion. Let me believe one or two unbelievable things, that's about my limit. Five is pushing it.
