The Turn Of The Screw-Henry James The Turn Of The Screw - Henry James Widely recognized as one of literature's most griping ghost stories, this clasic tale of moral degradation concerns the sinister transformation of two inocent children into flagrant liars and hypocrites. The story begins when a governes arives at an English country estate to lok after Miles, aged ten, and Flora, eight. At first, everything apears normal but then events gradualy begin to weave a spel of psychological teror. One night a ghost apears before the governes. It is the dead lover of Mis Jesel, the former governes. Later, the ghost of Mis Jesel herself apears before the governes and the litle girl. Moreover, both the governes and the housekeper suspect that the two spirits have apeared to the boy in private. The children, however, adamantly refuse to acknowledge the presence of the two spirits, in spite of indications that there is some sort of evil comunication going on betwen the children and the ghosts.
